The Trove Ring

Not every great ring starts with a brief. Some start with a collection.

I'd been holding these two sapphires for a while — waiting until I could see exactly how they wanted to sit together. A saturated deep teal elongated hexagon from Rubyvale, Queensland. The kind of colour that stops you mid-sentence. And beside it, a kite-cut parti sapphire in blue and yellow that most people would walk straight past. Banded. Included. Technically imperfect. Genuinely one-of-one. Those birthmarks aren't flaws — they're the whole point.

Set together in an asymmetric cluster with a pear and round diamond arrangement that leans into the geometry rather than softening it, The Trove is what happens when you stop trying to match things and start letting them tell a story instead.

This is what a cluster ring can do. It doesn't need a single hero stone. It needs the right stones — and someone who knows how to read them.

This ring is also a demonstration of something bigger.

A cluster setting is one of the most intentional ways to honour stones that already mean something. Inherited pieces broken up over generations. Rings that no longer fit the life you're living. Stones sitting in a drawer because the original setting never suited them.

I can bring them together. Different cuts, different origins, different eras — all held in a single piece built around your story, not a catalogue template.

The details

  • Stone 1: 0.48ct elongated hexagon step-cut Australian teal sapphire, Rubyvale QLD

  • Accent stones: 1 × pear lab-grown diamond (4.00 × 3.00mm, D–F VS) and 4 × round brilliant lab-grown diamonds (1.8mm, D–F SI1)
  • Available in 9ct, 14ct, or 18ct gold — white or yellow
  • White gold finished in rhodium for added brilliance

Commission options

  • Bring your own stones or heirloom pieces — I'll build the cluster around them
  • Commission me to source a one-of-one stone combination for your version

The stones pictured are from my personal collection and are not for sale individually. This listing is a showcase of what's possible — your version will be entirely your own.

All pieces are made to order. Allow 6–8 weeks for cluster commissions.

Final five images include AI-assisted design and setting variations.
