About Kimba

Your Story Isn't Found in a Catalogue. Why Should Your Jewellery Be?

Most jewellery brands in Australia are playing a safe game. Same CAD templates, same mass-produced settings, same generic white diamonds. The result? A ring that looks like everyone else's.

I'm here to break that cycle.

I'm Kimba — a maker, a gem hunter, and a bit of an obsessive when it comes to this craft. I create jewellery for the individualist: the person who wants a piece that feels modern, bold, and entirely their own.

The Art of the Bridge

My work is a conversation between two worlds.

In Melbourne, I design with the boldness and precision that Australian craft does so well — clean geometry, strong form, contemporary edge. In Hoi An, I work alongside artisans who carry generations of Vietnamese craft in their hands — delicate, deeply rooted, and world-class in ways most people in the industry never get close enough to see.

Neither tradition alone makes the work I make. It's the bridge between them that does.

Global Insight, Local Hands

Beyond my own studio, I work as a manufacturing and design consultant — helping other brands navigate responsible production, prototyping, and craftsmanship. I've seen the industry from every angle: from the first sketch at my bench to the final polish before delivery.

That experience shapes every commission I take on.

I don't just design for beautiful — I design for longevity. I know how a piece needs to be built to survive a lifetime of wear, because I've spent years understanding what happens when it isn't. My direct relationships with artisanal miners in Australia and Vietnam mean I have access to responsibly sourced stones with real provenance — gems with personality, not just price tags. And my commitment to integrity runs through every part of the supply chain, not just the parts that are easy to talk about.

Step Behind the Bench

I believe the best way to truly value a handcrafted piece is to understand the craft behind it. That's why I facilitate workshops and curated making experiences in my studio — an invitation to step behind the bench and see the world through a maker's eyes.

These aren't just technical lessons. They're a chance to slow down, work with your hands, and walk away with something that carries the story of its own making. Whether you're a brand wanting to understand prototyping or an individual wanting to forge your own wearable narrative, these experiences close the gap between observer and creator.

Jewellery to Be Lived In

I don't believe in keeping fine jewellery in a safe.

I design for those who appreciate the subtle, hidden details — pieces that feel modern, sophisticated, and a little unexpected. The secret engraving on the inner band. The parti sapphire with three colours fighting for space in a single stone. The inclusion that tells you, without question, that this stone came from the earth and not a factory.

Whether I'm building a ceremonial ring or a personal milestone piece, the goal is always the same: a future heirloom that resonates with your story, not someone else's.

Let's build something with intention.

On This Land I acknowledge that my Melbourne studio is located in Woiworung country, which is traditionally owned by the Wurundjeri-willam clan of the Woi wurrung speaking people. I recognise their continuing connection to the land, waters, and culture, and pay my respects to their past and present Elders.

Across the Bridge As a designer whose heart lives in two places, I also pay my respects to the land of my heritage in Vietnam. I honour the ancestors who paved the path for my own hands to create, and the guardians of the land who watch over the traditions and artistry that I carry with me today.

I am grateful for the opportunity to create on these two lands, and I commit to walking respectfully upon both.
